Salon | Santa Fe Mud: A Living-Adobe Experience | A talk by Phil Hawes | Thursday, April 11, 2024 | 3 pm | At El Zaguán, 545 Canyon Road | At capacity

From 1967-1978 architect Phil Hawes embarked on multiple projects in Santa Fe as an architect, contractor, and town planner. In this presentation, Phil will discuss these projects including the Llano Compound, the Upaya House, two homes on Camino Manzano, and a Canyon Road development– Plaza Cañon–which sparked protest and was ultimately abandoned. Then he will discuss how these projects informed his work on Heraclitus– a cement ship, Hotel Vajra in the Kathmandu Valley, Biosphere 2 in Arizona, and other projects.
